200’ of roof rain drains were leaking into the mall, but they were suspended 40’ in the air running horizontally inside the roof.
Re-Pipe?: Plumbers recommended renting a lift to raise their crew 40’ into the air while they cut out 3’ sections of heavy galvanized pipe at a time. It also required asbestos abatement, permitting, inspections and crowd control. Dangerous sales areas of the mall would be closed and lose money for 4 weeks. Duration: 4 weeks. Plumber’s Cost $85,000
Re-Line!: We re-lined the pipes from outside on top of the roof. No permits and inspections needed as re-lining is considered a repair not replacement. Took 3 days. Total cost $25,000. Beat that.
