PIPE BURSTING & SLIP LINING:

In some circumstances, pipes cannot be lined so “pipe bursting” is used, which involves the physical destruction and outward displacement of the old pipe followed simultaneously by the installation of a new pipe with the same or wider diameter inside the newly created void. We offer Both “Pull-In-Place” Pipe Lining And “Air Inversion” Pipelining

There are essentially two ways that a new pipe lining can be installed inside an old pipe. The older way is to pull the new pipe lining into the pipe using a cable that was pulled through the pipe beforehand. The drawback with this type of lining is that you need two access points to the pipe: one to feed the liner into the pipe, the other to pull the cable that is pulling the liner into position.

The other way to install pipe lining is called “air inversion”. Imagine you took a sock and turned it inside out partially. Now if air was used to blow it back out, but inside of a pipe, that would be “air inversion” pipe lining. The most salient feature with this kind of pipelining is that you only need one access point to install the liner.

The pipe liners are installed from one access point, like a rooftop or from an outside cleanout so that there is no invasion of living space or workspace. Although underground pipe lining has been around for over 35 years, small diameter CIPP pipe lining was pioneered by Perma-Liner manufacturing. We are an experienced certified Perma-Liner installer and contractor with extensive experience in high-rise apartment CIPP trenchless pipe replacement, sewer main line lining, industrial pipelining, manhole liners and manhole epoxy lining and residential sewer lateral lining in Orlando FL.

The Pipe Lining Installation Process

The pipe lining contractor uses a water jetter or mechanical pipe cleaning brushes, remove all scale and corrosion deposits causing drain pipe backups in your broken underground sewer pipes
Then the pipe lining company uses a video camera to inspect the sewer plumbing pipes and gets a distance measurement for the trenchless underground pipelining
The pipe liner is cut to length and 100% epoxy resin is mixed and used to saturate the pipe sleeve thoroughly
The new liner is installed and allowed to harden under air pressure against the walls of the broken leaking pipe
After 3 hours the new pipe liner has formed a new pipe inside the old pipe and the trenchless pipe process is complete

FEATURED PROJECT:

Shopping Mall Roof Drain Pipe Rehabilitation

Location: 122 E Jackson St., Orlando, FL 32801

Problem: Cast iron roof drain pipes rusted and leaking

Diagnosis: Corrosion due to moisture and oxygen

Craftsman was contacted by the owner of a shopping mall to assist in pipe replacement without excavation. The problem seemed to be that the 4” cast iron roof drains were corroded inside the walls and were leaking causing damage and expensive requiring mould remediation. Video investigation clearly showed vertical cracks in the thin old cast iron pipes.

Traditional pipe replacement was not an option because the pipes were surrounded by electrical wiring and other drinking water pipes. Furthermore, pull-in-place lining was not possible as there was only one access point to the pipes of the roof. To make matters more complicated, there were 2-3 90-degree bends in the 60’ long pipes, and lastly, they were so corroded that jetting to clean them prior to installing a structural liner was dangerous and could cause tremendous damage if the old pipe failed. Also, the owner of the shopping mall requested that the work be performed without disrupting the daily shopping activity.

Craftsman overcame these obstacles by using air-inversion pipe lining to “shoot” the new pipe liner from the rooftop downwards into the pipe, around the 3 x 90-degree bends, stopping just short of where the drain pipe made a 90-degree bend under the floor of the mall. The work was performed at night so there would be no disruption to shopping activities.

RECENT PROJECT IN ORLANDO

Disney’s Hollywood Studios found corroded cast iron sewer pipes were causing repeated blockages under the “Backlot” restaurant with purported sales of $100,000 per day!

Plumbers recommended cutting out 140’ of 8” thick reinforced concrete to replace the pipe, then recompacting and repouring the slab.Estimated duration: 1 week Cost: $45,000
