The Pipe Lining Installation Process

The pipe lining contractor uses a water jetter or mechanical pipe cleaning brushes, remove all scale and corrosion deposits causing drain pipe backups in your broken underground sewer pipes
Then the Californian pipe lining company uses a video camera to inspect the sewer plumbing pipes and gets a distance measurement for the trenchless underground pipelining
The pipe liner is cut to length and 100% epoxy resin is mixed and used to saturate the pipe sleeve thoroughly
The new liner is installed and allowed to harden under air pressure against the walls of the broken leaking pipe
After 3 hours the new pipe liner has formed a new pipe inside the old pipe and the trenchless pipe process is complete

Recent Project in San Francisco: Vertical Sewer Pipe Restoration- Office Building On Van Ness Ave.

Our sewer pipe repair dispatch received an urgent call from the repair plumbing maintenance supervisor at an office tower that was experiencing leaking sewer drain pipes in walls. The building was rehabilitated recently and all the old plumbing pipes had undergone repiping with PVC, so there should have been no sewage pipe leaks in the walls.

Our San Francisco pipe video investigation unit was hired to determine the source of plumbing leaks in the PVC pipes. To their dismay, they could see no purple primer inside the sewer PVC pipes, indicating that the pipes were likely never glued or the plumbers had not primed the fittings before gluing, both of which could lead to plumbing leaks in walls. In addition, the San Francisco plumbing contractor who did the work could not be reached for pipe warranty work.

Our trenchless pipe rehabilitation crew was hired to reline the drain pipes from the rooftop, using the air installation method from Perma-Liner Industries. This pipe lining method only required one access point, from the rooftop stacks, to install the pipe liner. Once the trenchless pipe rehabilitation was complete, a robotic cutter was sent down each roof drain pipe to open pipe connections that were covered by the pipe lining process. Finally all the water was run in each office bathroom on each floor to ensure there were no sewer backups or leaking sewer pipes in the walls. Best of all, only one bathroom per floor was out of service for 6 hours, so that normal office activities could continue during drain pipe rehabilitation.

We received an urgent request to repair a drain pipe in San Francisco at a popular pub. Video inspection showed a broken clay lateral sewer pipe leading from the pub to the sewer main line under the road. A locating device was used to find the precise area for digging to repair the sewer pipe, but the area was right next to the road, under a busy walkway. Excavation for pipe replacement was not an option.

Instead our pipe liner crew installed a new sectional pipe lining from the cleanout located just outside the building. Sectional pipe lininginvolves relining just a small section of missing, cracked or broken pipe, and is usually used to rehabilitate clay (VCP) pipe which is generally in great condition, except for a few small broken sections of sewer pipe. For the pub it was the fastest, least expensive and least messy option of sewer lateral pipe replacement as the pipe lining installation only took 4 hours of cure time.
