27 cast iron waste stacks and roof drains were leaking sewage and rain into walls of condos. Mould and wall degradation ensued. Elderly immunologically weakened residents threatened to sue the homeowners association.
Re-Pipe?:Plumbers wanted to cut out the 100’-long pipes, some inside solid concrete walls. It required the removal of cabinets, stove tops and vents, retiling bathroom and kitchen walls. Residents have to Vacate for 3 months. Total cost: $950,000.
Re-Line!:We re-lined the stacks from the rooftop in 3 weeks including the cutting open of all pipe connections. 3 weeks Total cost: $485,000
